Central African Republic
CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC, as its name implies, is a landlocked nation almost in the center of Africa. Its capital city is is Bangui and its two major waterways are the Ubangui and Shari rivers. CAR is bounded by 5 countries: Cameroon, Congo, Sudan, Chad, Congo (formerly Zaire).
Among its almost 80 different ethnic divisions are the Aya, Banda, and Sara. The Bambuti and the Bayaka are small statued people of CAR. Major languages spoken are Sangho and French.
Rock art was found in three different areas of the country. For example, in the north are 3 sandstone rock shelters with ancient paintings. The colors are black, white or red ochre. The painted images include hands, figures, elephants, buffalo and geometric symbols.
